Job Description
The Nevada System of Education is recruiting for a driven Administrative Assistant 2 for the NSHE, System Administration Office in Las Vegas, Nevada. ***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.*** This position will report to the Assistant to the Chancellor and is responsible for providing excellent customer service when attending to visitors, guests or general public by greeting, welcoming, directing announcing them appropriately. The Administrative Assistant 2 will perform a variety of support functions to ensure smooth operations of the NSHE System Administration reception area. In addition, the Administrative Assistant 2 is responsible for answering, screening and forwarding any incoming calls while providing basic information when necessary.
Other duties include but are not limited to purchasing and tracking supplies and equipment for the Las Vegas office, scheduling conference rooms and arranging for logistics of meetings for the System Administration staff and performing work-related errands as requested.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid class “C” driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants who are self-starters who demonstrate initiative, can work with limited supervision, and can work well under pressure and with changing deadlines are encouraged to apply.
It is essential the final candidate is reliable, dependable and punctual.

Schedule
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 25 (Entry, Step 01 $16.43/hr – Step 05 $19.32/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
