Cheshire Wildlife Trust are recruiting for an Advocacy and Planning Officer to
influence decision making mainly, but not exclusively, through the planning system, securing
better outcomes for wildlife and the climate.
Salary: £23,179 – £29,621 per annum
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Full time (part time working could be considered for the right
candidate)
Location: Cheshire, A Cheshire Wildlife Trust operational base
In this role, you will use your professional expertise and communication skills to advise on
ecological planning matters, especially Biodiversity Net Gain. It will involve working at both
a local and strategic level and you will be required to communicate with a variety of
audiences.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a background in ecology,
ecological consultancy or planning. Ideally you will have a good understanding of Biodiversity
Net Gain and habitat assessment using the commonly used habitats classification systems. You
will also have a good understanding of managing and monitoring habitats and a broad
understanding of priority species and their management requirements.
The specific purpose of this position is:
- To ensure decisions affecting nature take account of its value
- To ensure net gains for biodiversity are delivered though the planning system
- To help ensure Biodiversity Net Gain good practice is widely understood and implemented
- To ensure spaces for wildlife are better protected and better managed
- To ensure science and evidence underpins our work.
