The Department of Visual Arts & Media at the University of Mount Union seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Media to teach general media, social media, media law, and film courses, beginning August 2023. The Assistant Professor of Media will also teach courses in our Integrative Core curriculum. The Department of Visual Arts & Media is home to the BA in media as well as the BA in art.
- Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to teach media courses at all levels, including, but not limited to Intro to Media & Culture; Digital Media, Law & Policy; Social Media Strategies; and Political Communication. There will also be opportunities for the successful candidate to develop courses related to their area(s) of expertise. Finally, the successful candidate will teach either/both First Year Seminar and Capstone courses for the Integrative Core. The department values experiential learning and encourages faculty members to implement a variety of high-impact pedagogical practices.
The successful candidate will also take the lead in the media program’s annual assessment as well as program recruitment efforts. In addition, the media program is highly collaborative, and we are looking for someone who is interested in building innovative, interdisciplinary curricula and partnerships across campus. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, department and university service, professional development, and scholarly activity.
- Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Media or a related discipline and a minimum of two years teaching experience (graduate teaching assistantship included) is preferred; ABD will be considered.
