About the opportunity
The School of Physics is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer in Photonics to focus on researching photonic based radar technology for sensing and communications. The position will be in the research team of Prof Ben Eggleton, in the School of Physics, based in laboratories in the Sydney Nanoscience Hub.
The researcher is expected to undertake experimental research that leads to publications and conference presentations and is expected to collaborate with other universities and industry.
The role could be involved in the development of technology solutions that impact health care and other application areas.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
leverage the advanced photonic signal processing to produce high-quality optical or microwave signals.
design advanced photonic strategies for generating ultra-wideband, linear frequency-modulated signals above 10 GHz
develop sophisticated algorithms for coherently integrating demodulated signals from radar or LiDAR systems to achieve superior sensing resolution.

a PhD in a relevant discipline (Physics, Engineering)
strong knowledge of Photonic Radar and LiDAR systems and applications

demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively across a range of forums and to work collegially, collaboratively, and inclusively with fellow scholars and professional staff
excellent communication (written and verbal), as well organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
demonstrated ability to conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, as well as to work effectively as a member of a team
demonstrated scientific creativity and innovation/discovery.
