team and help deliver our vision of London’s natural environment being appreciated, understood,

The Role

This role is an opportunity for the right person to lead the strategic development and
improvement of GiGL’s data holdings and related services. The post is a full-time position.

You will oversee all aspects of GiGL’s data and information systems, as well as
collaborating with others to develop data services to meet the needs of GiGL’s stakeholders.
Communication skills will be key to engage with stakeholders involved with nature and
environmental data, from collection through to use.

As an experienced ecologist you will advise colleagues in the best use of ecological
data in relation to the development and improvement of GiGL’s services for our

You will line manage and support a small group of specialist data and system officers and
collaborate on tasks including informing the strategic and business plan.

Our Ideal Biodiversity & Ecological Data Manager

  • A proficient user of Microsoft Office applications and ESRI’s suite of products, with
    experience of managing biodiversity data
  • An understanding of habitat and species survey methodologies and current green
    infrastructure policies, frameworks and environmental legislation is essential
  • An understanding of the functions of a local environmental records centre and experience of
    collaborative partnership or project delivery is an advantage.

Salary: GiGL Manager grade £35,000 – £40,000

Holidays: 25 days per annum plus statutory holidays
