The Technology
Access Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (TACEES) is looking
to hire a Business Development Associate for a 12-month term. The position will
follow a hybrid working model where you will be working from home and
occasionally work from NAIT’s main campus. The primary responsibilities of this
position will be to assist Centre Researchers and the Centre Managers with the development
and administration of new business opportunities for the Center. TACESS assists
organizations and communities in the natural resources and energy sector by
accelerating knowledge and technology development in the pursuit of
environmental sustainability. We accomplish this by elevating the level of
scientific and technical expertise of industry organization and their suppliers
through specialized research and training services in key technical areas of
interest to the industry.

The Business
Development Associate (BD Associate) is responsible for assisting the Business
Development lead and Technology Access Centre Manager with the development and
execution of project scopes and proposals, assisting with client interactions,
managing follow ups and developing new business leads for the Technology Access
Centre. The successful candidate must work collaboratively in a
multi-disciplinary team with subject matter experts in three key areas of Oil
Sands extraction, water treatment, tailings management and Process Measurement
and Optimization.

The Technology
Access Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability is located in NAIT’s
state-of-the art research laboratory in the Productivity and Innovation Centre.
TACEES is staffed by an expert team of applied scientists, engineers and
technicians. TACEES bridges the gap between existing Energy, Critical Minerals
and Mining research and relevant solutions, taking innovative ideas from bench
through scale-up.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify
    and develop new revenue opportunities
  • Seek appropriate market intelligence for
    the centre, through surveys and interviews
  • Prospecting for new clients at trade
    shows, industry events, and other approved events
  • Recording client interactions in the NAIT
    Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform
  • Assist in planning and execution of centre
    board meetings
  • Coordinate activities with other business
    development team members at NAIT
  • Coordinate and steward proposals and
    funding requests with centre staff
  • Assist with content development and review
  • General administration, including
    participation in centre meetings, training, project reporting
  • Supporting
    the metric tracking for the Centre

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong
    writing skills are a must
  • Basic computing skills including: Word
    processing, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and Email
  • Teleconferencing methods
  • A knowledge of rudimentary finance and
    accounting is required
  • Strong technical problem solving and
    troubleshooting skills
  • Customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Well-honed communications skills and an
    ability to relate with others is highly desirable
  • A basic knowledge of science and the oil
    sands/relevant industries is an asset
  • Familiarity
    with Smartsheet and Salesforce would be an asset

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate
    or higher degree in Business, Science or Engineering
  • 2+ years experience in a technical service
    and/or sales field in the oil and gas or relevant industries
  • Familiarity with product development and
    commercialization is a major asset
  • Experience
    developing and negotiating prices

 

Remuneration: $61,997.52
– $83,085.08 annually plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification
– Research Officer II)                             

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees
(AUPE) Collective Agreement.
