ROLE of the POSITION

The Business Intelligence Manager provides a unique opportunity at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV to play an integral part in the development of the Business analysis processes for leadership within the school.  As the first person to fill this role, there will be many opportunities to provide dashboard reporting, analysis and process creation to create an efficient and effective use of funds to best educate students, residents and give support to faculty physicians, educators and researchers. 

Duties will include analyzing financial reports, market research and operating procedures, strategizing ideas to improve business operations and meeting with company executives and other stakeholders to provide suggestions based on their analysis.  The Business Intelligence Manager will be responsible for the technical analysis, training and feasibility assessments associated with new document applications and implementation of processes for areas within the school (Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), Administrative resources, Research and Clinical Affairs).  There are opportunities to work with UNLV Health Analysts, (the clinical arm of the School) to develop additional reporting and analysis to improve the integration of business process and educational processes, as well as educational resources. 

This position reports through the KSOM Assistant Dean of Finance and is responsible for creating and prioritizing reporting for the school of medicine

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Gather and analyze data for potential business expansion
  • Identify specific business opportunities
  • Prioritize needs and projects to align with the mission and priorities of the School
  • Identify potential tools and investments to develop the value of the department
  • Influence stakeholders to support business projects
  • Coordinate with different departmental teams to produce better business outcomes
  • Test business processes and recommend improvements
  • Write clear and well-structured business requirements/documents
  • Identify automation opportunities
  • Create reports, dashboards and visualizations to understand business performance
  • Analyze process issues and bottlenecks and to make improvements
  • Communicate and validate requirements with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools
  • Perform data discovery, analysis and modeling
  • Collaborate with various departments on roadmap planning and prioritization
  • Spend time with business users to learn our business and existing tools
  • Work hand in hand with the business to develop the right tool and implement new reporting tools

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree required and 1 to 3 years of experience in creating and maintaining reports and dashboards using business intelligence software and tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred degree in analytics, data science, statistics or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
