This position will have the opportunity to work remotely within the greater Twin Cities area and will be required to attend workshops and meetings on a semi-regular basis on the St. Paul Campus.

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Process Analyst uses their ability, knowledge, and skills for analyzing business processes and applications with the objective of improving and/or automating, increasing efficiency, and/or saving money. The BPA will perform these functions in the support of ITS initiatives, including IT Project Management support, improving cross-functional business processes, service owner support, and others.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

In support of the objectives above, the BPA will be expected to:

 

  • Lead the process of analyzing and streamlining complex business processes to best align technology-related solutions with business strategies. Define and complete complex user stories; consider the current and future business environment when designing solutions.
  • Design solutions to solve complex problems considering technology capacity and desired business results. Use “best practice” methodologies to manage and execute business process improvements with minimal supervision.
  • Provide stakeholders with necessary analysis documentation for buy-in, leadership decision, and implementation; conducts walk-throughs of recommended system functionality and prototypes with business users in small group or large group settings.
  • Manage end-to-end process change projects including, current state analysis, future state process design, identifying the requirements for change, testing, documentation, and implementation.
  • Assist project sponsors and managers with establishing project charters and formulating project scope and objectives. Collaborate with and educate business process owners responsible for managing and operating business processes. Work with service owners to improve IT processes.
  • Lead workshops for process redesign that involve eliciting business, process and/or system requirements.. Facilitate and lead interviews, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future business processes; coordinates the communication between stakeholders and service owners in order to effectively implement solutions.
  • Lead efforts to build business process analysis competencies across ITS and the university. Develop, adapt, and share best practice methods and tools; coach, mentor and train other “apprentice” business process analysts. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of relevant, professional level experience in business process analysis and improvement role(s) or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience
