Background and Purpose of the Assignment

The Partnerships & Communications Unit is seeking a communications intern. The intern will support WFP Liberia Communications’ strategy to increase national and international support for WFP’s strategic objectives in Liberia. The intern will support the production of WFP Liberia’s communications materials and contribute to improving the visibility of WFP its donors’ intervention in Liberia

What will you do in this position?

  • Contribute to the implementation of WFP Liberia’s communication strategy.
  • Provide regular content (photos, videos, and articles) for social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to maintain strong relationships with key partners, funders, media professionals, the public, supporting groups and organizations.
  • Design, research, write, and edit communications materials (articles, press releases, human stories, fact sheets, and others) for both traditional and social media for advocacy and resource mobilization purposes.
  • Ensure the layout and graphics of quality information and communication materials (situation reports, fact sheets, articles, and statistics) for briefings and official visits with donors, high-level personalities, the press, etc.
  • Coordinate and make proposals/recommendations on the organization of events and ensure that adequate plans, services, equipment, and materials are in place.
  • Collaborate with WFP sub-offices, cooperating partners, and WFP IT to ensure that relevant information, including multimedia content (photos, videos, and articles), is collected, and saved in appropriate files and databases and that accurate records are available and accessible to others.

Education:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university in International Development, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or another relevant field

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills.
  • Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive, and sound working environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Desirable Experience:

  • Has experience or demonstrated interest in international humanitarian development.
  • Has experience working in the Communications field.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
