Controller

Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota is seeking a mission-focused individual with strong fiscal management background to serve as the Controller.

The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the Agency. The position oversees activities related to budgeting, forecasting, cash management, accounting and financial reporting. As a member of the Executive Team, the Controller is expected to analyze and provide recommendations to enhance management and strengthen performance.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Actively manage the personnel and systems who execute day-to-day accounting & financial operations
• Coordinates the scheduling and completion of the independent audit for Catholic Charities of Southern MN
• Ensures the maintenance of financial records and accounting systems to ensure compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices and contractual requirements
• Oversees development, implementation and enforcement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Provides financial leadership for the Agency
• Participates on the Executive Team
• Oversees the monthly closing process and preparation of financial reports for the Executive Director, the Finance Committee and the Board.
• Oversees and provides leadership for the annual budget process.
• Provides analytical and strategic support to the Executive Director
• In conjunction with the program staff, ensures timely completion of annual Accountings
• Manages banking and contractual arrangements
• Manages accounting staff responsible for financial activity and transactions
• Coordinates completion of annual reports and tax returns in conjunction with third- party tax preparers

Qualified Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required with three to five years of accounting experience in the nonprofit sector
• Certified Public Accountant preferred
• The successful candidate must be organized and able to multi-task, pay strong attention to detail, and meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
