Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant will support efficient operation of the dental clinic to facilitate optimal learning by students in a patient-care environment.  The  Dental Assistant will provide chairside dental assisting and related clinical support for dental patients both in the student/graduate clinics where third- and fourth-year student dentists treat patients with oversight and direction from faculty. In addition to chairside  assisting, the incumbent will maintain clinical and related areas and manage instrumentation during and after patient use, following all infection control and quality assurance requirements.  The assistant will support all of the school clinics as needed and will be assigned accordingly.  Duties include assisting student dentists chairside during procedures, taking and processing radiographs, turning over operatories between patients, maintaining clinical areas in accordance with sound infection control standards, managing instruments during and after patient use, assisting in greeting and seating patients, and performing other related clinical duties as requested. They will cooperate with the clinic’s assigned dispensary clerk to ensure ready availability to student dentists of all necessary instruments and supplies. 

 
Prefer completion of a formal dental assisting program or 2-3 years of experience in a dental assisting role if no formal training. Require certification to expose and process dental radiographs
