In the 1970’s a group of local parents had a vision for their children with intellectual and/or disabilities. They went against the status quo, kept their children with them and opted out of placing those children in an institution. The parents developed a plan to help their children learn and grow in their natural environment and thus began the vision for The Arc of Haywood County. 46 years later, this non-profit organization is home to roughly 40+/- employees and continues to be a strong, unique and a fun environment.
