Direct Support Professional (DSP)

At OUI our Caregivers have the job title Direct Support Professional.

The 3 possible roles of a Direct Support Professional

1. Teach our group classes.

Groups run in our center Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm with up to 12 adult participants per class. Class topics include current events, communication, money and budgeting, personal boundaries, and more.

2. Provide one-on-one services for our clients in their homes or in the community.

During this time, you will help the client achieve their self-determined goals including, budgeting, grocery shopping, cleaning, socializing in the community, etc. Very flexible hours!!!

3. Lead group community classes.

Community classes last 1.5 hours each. We keep a one staff to three client ratio in these classes. DSPs take the clients out in the community to teach them about safety issues, such as crossing the street, stranger-danger, etc. You may lead a volunteer group or find fun activities to do in the community, such as walk around downtown, go to lunch, or play in the park!

Many of or DSPs work in 2-3 of these rolls, though some choose to only teach classes or only provide 1:1 services. We want you to be in the job that fits your strengths! At OUI our Caregivers have the job title Direct Support Professional.

Must be at least 18 years of age. OUI will provide CPR/First Aid Certification. Criminal History Background Check must be completed before working. Must pass pre-employment drug test.
