Overview

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration and Chief of Staff, the Director of Advising Operations overseas student support operations for the student advising and student success areas of the College. The Director will be responsible for data management, generation and sharing among student support staff. This role will partner with key offices (Office of Student Success, Registrar, IT) to provide reports to advising staff throughout the year, timed at key moments in the student support lifecycle. The Director will partner with CAS IT and other operational units at CAS and the University to develop systems that support the student advising experiences, including web based solutions that facilitate student advising and support. providing oversight of project planning, strategic communication and evaluation to ensure advising strategic objectives are met; using data to identify patterns and offer insights that will be used to make informed organizational decisions. The Director will also oversee hiring and recruitment of student office assistants and grad student advisers, providing supervision as they support college advising teams and functions (walk in advising). The Director will implement and facilitate new advisor onboarding and training as well as ongoing staff development.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Liberal Arts discipline or relevant field (Higher Education Administration)
Preferred Education:
PhD, EdD degree in related discipline
Required Experience:
5+ years years of demonstrated progressively responsible and successful experience in advising and administration, including staff supervision.
Preferred Experience:
Related experience at a large college or university.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills. Superior presentation, written and verbal communication skills. Possess a strong commitment to student success through the use of innovation, and data informed decision making. Demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and operations issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge of analytics tools (e.g.Tableau) and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (e.g. Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.) Knowledge of data models and database design development. Adept at report writing and presenting findings.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Preferred knowledge of university data systems, report generation and basic analytics. Knowledge of training and supervision and student support best practices.

Qualifications

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
