Contract: Fixed term

Salary: Funding of c.£16,000

Would you like the opportunity to be at the cutting edge of ecological research in education?

Putney High School has gained a national reputation for our award-winning biophilic classroom
programme. Our research into the benefits of biophilia on academic performance and wellbeing
have earned the school a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021.

We seek an individual who is looking to build on that legacy, inspire our pupils across all

The initiative falls within Putney High School’s ‘Breathe’ environmental programme, central to
the school’s strategic aims.

The Ecologist in Residence will have the opportunity to develop something exciting and a legacy
for the future. Working across various disciplines – which might range from science lessons to
environmental student rep meetings, organising specialist talks, to extra-curricular gardening
clubs – this role will suit an individual who is keen to motivate our students and expand their
minds with their knowledge and expertise of ecology, while also encouraging pupils to develop
their ownership of the programme to ensure its long-term legacy and sustainability.

Pro-active with a forward-thinking attitude, the successful candidate will possess experience
working in the ecological/environmental sector as well as excellent organisational skills that
allow them to manage their own time effectively, designing meaningful activities and speaker

A degree in a relevant subject, alongside project management experience and CIEEM membership is
desirable, but not required. No prior teaching experience is necessary.
