About the job

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues have become increasingly important for all stakeholders. The Energy & ESG Managed Services Team is responsible for client data integrity, advanced utility data management, validation and reporting.

We seek a smart, passionate, and personable individual to join our Energy and ESG Managed Services Team as an Energy Data Analyst. The Analyst will be engaging and supporting clients at both the portfolio and property level. They will perform data validation checks, energy model updates, deliver ESG and utility forecasting using our proprietary tools and software. This individual should be a people-person who enjoys helping others and has a general desire to learn and grow.

What you’ll be doing

  • Apply technical expertise and leverage in-house software tools, create and/or verify annual energy consumption and cost models/forecasts for large commercial buildings.

  • Perform utility rate research and compile utility rate assumptions across Canadian and US energy markets.

  • Use proprietary software to create and analyze utility budget report packages for the client properties across Canada and the US.

  • Monitor and maintain utility consumption models that directly impact forecast/budget activities.

  • Perform data verification checks. Identify, document, and communicate anomalies to our clients.

  • Perform data analysis for portfolio-level energy, water, waste, greenhouse gas emissions performance reporting. Review and investigate year-over-year variances and anomalous normalized performance.

  • Become a subject matter expert in the relevant product and vertical domains.

  • Support large organizations with ESG initiatives including GRESB

  • Use proprietary utility and sustainability data management systems to provide relevant, timely, and insightful Emissions reporting.

  • Perform research on relevant Emissions factors & global targets

  • Identify ways to optimize data acquisition, modelling and analysis processes and tools.

  • Liaise with client sustainability and property teams.

What you need

  • Undergraduate university degree in environmental studies/sciences, energy management, engineering, or similar discipline.

  • 1+ year of experience in sustainability, data analysis, or energy management in the commercial real estate, building development or property management sector.

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • You have a natural ability to manage a multitude of initiatives and competing priorities. You consistently deliver quality results, while working under tight or firm deadlines. You embrace change – new ideas or ways of doing things, shifts in focus or priorities, organizational change etc.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Exposure to data management capture/reporting systems and experience with SQL.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
