The staff accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works collaboratively to ensure a high functioning financial management operation. This position requires understanding and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and procedures, as well as compliance with funders reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years accounting related experiences and have competencies in general ledger preparation, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities, along with year-end and audit preparation. Applicants must demonstrate capacities in other skills sets essential for a high functioning finance department including strong organization skills, ability to meet deadlines, demonstrating initiative to solve problems, strong technology skills including familiarity with Blackbaud or similar software. The staff accountant must demonstrate the capacity to address tight deadlines and multiple accounting responsibilities simultaneously.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include responsible for recording journal entries, inputting cash receipts, managing credit cards, preparing bank reconciliations, processing payroll and accounts payables as well as assisting with budget and audit preparation. Moreover, the candidate is expected to prepare, monitor, and analyze reports as well as all other duties assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting and a minimum of 3 years’ work experience. Candidate must be a self-starter, knowledgeable of nonprofit accounting, well organized, trustworthy, proficient in the use of accounting software, as well as possess excellent verbal and written skills. Some travel will be required.
Salary Range: $45,000 – $50,000
