Key Responsibilities

1. Treat youth and families with respect and dignity

2. Act as a role model and mentor to assist in the reunification process through direct guidance and support

3. Encourage effective parenting techniques and development/growth toward family relations and goals.

4. Assist in developing visitation expectations and motivate families to reach these goals

5. Ensure all participants involved in supervised visits follow the Supervision Guidelines as set by CHJC and the local Department of Social Services. Supervision begins immediately when the participants arrive for the visit and does not end until the participants have left the building

6. Maintain contact with the Foster Care Case Planner assigned to each case with regard to the visits and/or any concerns

7. Work with the Foster Care Team and any other collaborating agencies to best meet the needs of the youth and their families

8. Complete the Supervised Visitation Log and any other assigned paperwork as required for the CHJC Foster Care Department and/or the Department of Social Services for each supervised visit

9. Abide by the Agency’s Rules of Confidentiality

Required Education

Two years’ experience working with youth at risk and families. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related Human Service discipline preferred. Experience in Child Welfare and ability to work with culturally diverse families. Understanding of and experience with Strength-Based and Individualized Care Approach to working with children and families.

Valid NYS Driver’s License Required.

All interested candidates must be at least 21 years of age.

Covid-19 vaccination is a requirement for all employees.
