General Responsibilities
Ø Must comply with GAAP.
Ø Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
Ø Be responsible for budget development, consultation with leadership staff and Board Finance Committee.
Ø Oversee all financial activities for the organization.
Ø Oversee all audit preparation and financial monitoring of agency programs.
Ø Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Ensure that all financial activities follow OMB A133 Compliance for federally funded programs as well as the agency’s Financial Procedure Manual and other grant regulations.
Ø Maintain sound accounting principles to ensure all adequate fiscal controls required by grantor agencies including a thorough working knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and other financial requirements.
Ø Provide technical assistance to all Department Directors concerning budgets and the rules and regulations of specific funding agencies; analyze budgets; review grant conditions; and, recommend budget changes as applicable.
Ø Direct the development, completion and submission of all financial statements and reports as required by the various funding sources.
Ø Ensure the preparation of all supporting information for the annual audit and serve as liaison to the agency’s Board Audit Committee and external auditors; ensure that the agency maintains its “low-risk” audit standing and make every effort to ensure that the agency has no questioned costs, disallowed costs or findings in its annual audit.
Ø Coordinate and supervise the work of the Finance staff to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, petty cash, bank reconciliation, investment accounts, and overall cash management ensuring the maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
Ø Monitor and coordinate risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organization risks are minimized.
Ø Oversee the insurance coverage applicable for all aspects of the agency’s operations.
Ø Attend all training opportunities to remain up-to-date on nonprofit audit best practices, and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
Education and Experience:
Ø Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management/Administration; CPA or MBA preferred.
Ø Five to 10 years’ experience in management level accounting, preferably in a nonprofit organization with a budget of at least $10 million.
Ø Minimum of five years’ experience in supervision of financial staff.
Ø Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting including fund and grant accounting, compliance and reporting.
Ø Possess a solid knowledge and understanding of OMB Circular A133 audit.
Ø Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ø Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills.
Ø Excellent analytical, abstract reasoning and organizational skills.
Ø Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively
Ø Demonstrated ability as a strength based leader
Ø Demonstrated ability to present information to community groups, funding sources, and board of directors.
Additional Requirements:
Ø Must have proficient computer skills and experience working with a fund accounting database.
Ø Must have good communication and organizational skills, and be able to work effectively with people.
Ø Must be self-directed and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Ø Must possess the ability to prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within allocated time frames.
Ø Must be willing to accept new challenges.
Ø The ability to navigate and effectively resolve conflict.
Ø Ability to handle staff relations effectively and pleasantly.
Ø Must be able to perform as a key member of the Agency’s Administrative Team, providing financial insight and perspective, and leadership in the development of policy and programs.
Ø Must be able to work independently, multi-task, supervise and train staff members, and be a team player.
Ø The job duties require a working cell phone for accessibility to supervisor, co-workers, or to enhance personal safety while away from the office location.
Ø Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, pass State Policy criminal clearances and MMCAA’s Insurance Carriers driving record review.
Ø Must comply with Agency smoke free and drug free policies.
Ø Understand the importance of daily work attendance.
Ø Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
