Job Description:

As a Fiscal Assistant II, you, along with the other members of our Finance Team, will work to ensure the integrity and compliance of the UF Health Cancer Center’s (UFHCC) financial operations and transactions and will support the continuous efforts being made by our staff and membership as we work towards our ultimate goal of curing and preventing cancer. Your role will be centered around performing essential fiscal duties and transactions for our various divisions, providing excellent customer service in support of the critical research being done at the Cancer Center.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Initiating, completing, and recording financial transactions for UFHCC accounts and personnel including those related to travel, purchasing, etc.;
  • Monitoring and processing vendor payments and invoices, working with them to resolve payment issues and concerns;
  • Managing core resource copays and transactions related to Center membership, communicating with PIs, members, and other support staff as appropriate;
  • Running basic fiscal reports and assisting the Finance Manager and Accountant with developing division reports and other more complex reports;
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with advising and troubleshooting issues related to UFHCC and UF fiscal policies, escalating issues as needed;
  • Ensuring documentation and forms related to transactions are complete, requesting additional information and supporting documents as needed;
  • Assisting with BA support and updates as needed.

This is an entry level position, ideal for candidates with an interest in exploring a career in finance, specializing in the academic research environment. Employees in these roles operate as an important part of the critical infrastructure supporting our collaborative research enterprise and are essential to the success of the oncology research being conducted at the University of Florida. Expected Salary:

$18.00 – $21.00 hourly; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and three years of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field as well as one or more years of applicable fiscal experience;
  • Functional understanding of basic fiscal concepts and accounting principles;
  • Experience using the PeopleSoft grants and financials modules;
  • Proficiency using related computer applications, personal computer, calculator, and CRT;
  • Exceptional customer service with a professional, trustworthy, approachable demeanor and strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability and desire to work with a broad range of people;
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information;
  • Innate sense of professional ethics and conduct, understanding and effectively using Emotional Intelligence strategies and skills;
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills;
  • Forward-thinking mentality, actively seeking opportunities and proposing creative solutions with strong decision-making capability;
  • Developed problem solving and critical thinking skillset;
  • Desire and skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, both internally and externally, through a variety of communication mediums and venues;
  • Awareness and knowledge of UF and State accounting principles and practices, standard office procedures, and experience using BA strongly preferred;
  • Ability to review, advise, and recommend solutions for basic fiscal matters.
