DRC Syria

DRC has been actively operating in Syria since 2008 mainly supporting refugees. In June 2012, DRC was authorized by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to expand its humanitarian efforts and provide assistance to IDPs and the vulnerable resident population countrywide. Since then, DRC activities have been focused on NFI distributions, Shelter, WASH, Protection, Education, Livelihoods and Mine Risk Education in six Governorates (Damascus, Rural Damascus, Dara’a, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs). While Protection/community service activities are provided to beneficiaries throughout our Community Centers.

About the job:

DRC is operating in Syria since 2008 and starting from 2013 the organization started to deliver protection, shelter/infrastructure, wash, livelihood and education services to the crisis affected population. The programme portfolio of DRC corresponds to several major grants funded by donors such as UN agencies, ECHO, etc.

The grant officer will work under the line management of the PDQM and s/he will collaborate with programme staff to support the development of high-quality and timely reports to donors. S/he will contribute to the proposal development and programme design. This role will have a specific focus in ensuring compliances of donors rules and regulation and supporting and following up the overall donors activities and elaboration of donors documents such as contracts management.


  • Manage reporting workflows.
  • Support the grants coordinator in the development and preparation of high-quality, timely reports for donors, partners, and government on program progress, ensuring all donor reporting requirements are met and strategically positioned to demonstrate DRCs leadership in programming in the country context.
  • Support the grants coordinator in providing timely, thorough responses to information requests from internal and external sources.
  • Lead initiative to identify, research, write, and report on key sector success stories for internal and external audiences, packaging stories that center on evidence to further illustrate impact of the programming.
  • Work closely with program and MEAL staff to ensure credible, best-practice monitoring and reporting of program activities.
  • Ensure developed and design of exceptional communication materials, including reports, activity plans, and information updates.
  • Serve as main gatekeeper of high-quality reporting and communication activities for all portfolios, drafting original content and providing strategic guidance on positioning and messaging of all reporting and communications materials.
  • Edit and finalize reports and communications materials.
  • Support the grants Coordinator in overseeing proposal development processes, including drafting and producing high quality concept notes and proposals.
  • Support the grants coordinator and head of programmes with the development of strategy.
  • Develop check lists for donors compliance and provide support to programme and support staff to accomplish with them.
  • Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in area of concern.
  • Support grant coordinator in the organization of kickoff meeting and grants meeting with all concern staff.
  • Prepare administrative files for proposal submission.
  • Ensure that all documentation related to donors contracts are filed and shared with concerned staff.
  • Support grants coordinator in updating monthly the grants tracker.
  • Travelling to the field to support and train field staff in donors compliance issues.


  • At least 2 years of professional experience with an international organization or national organizations.
  • Familiarity with ECHO, OFDA and UN agencies donors with special attention to reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrating excellent English writing skills.
  • Knowledge and some experience in project cycle management.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to analyze budget line items for compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Proven records maintenance and database management skills.
  • Solid experience in the use of Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, etc)


  • University degree in international relations, project management, business administration, or equivalent professional qualification.


  • Advanced English Proficiency.
  • Fluency in Arabic.
