Department Summary The Office of Marketing and Communications tells HSC’s stories, using creative ways to engage internal audiences, prospective students and community members. We map out and implement strategic marketing and communication plans in collaboration with HSC departments and schools to showcase the university and its work in education, research and health care.
Position Overview The Office of Marketing and Communications at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Graphic Designer to join our team. The person in this position must exemplify the UNT System’s Values. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Work both independently and in collaboration with the design team to design logos, collateral documents, brochures, posters, email and print templates, digital graphics, and utility art elements.
  • Produce print-ready files for all projects adhering to the HSC Brand guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the principles, equipment, software, and practices of the field of media design and production.
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices and techniques used in the production of graphic and advertising design materials for print and digital media.
  • Manual dexterity and physical ability to operate various items of media equipment.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop original ideas for media production.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop (including basic animation), and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of printing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Solid skills in typography, layout, and graphic design
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to take direction from multiple sources and be adaptable
  • Experience working within brand guidelines
  • Confidence working on tight deadlines and last-minute updates and edits
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management a plus

Job Duties

o Work independently and collaborative with varied departments. Communicate with clients about project updates, give best recommendations adhering to HSC’s Brand guidelines.
o Develop visual concepts and brainstorm with creative team to convey HSC’s message through digital and print. Work with clients ideas but manage their expectations.
o Keeping up to date with design trends and the latest technology.
o Communicate with editorial team and track any updates regarding copy for project, manage multiple projects at once, prioritize projects based on timelines.
