Posting Context Statement The Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Communications, and play a key role in shaping the identity and voice of Auxiliary Services and brands within the unit. The Graphic Designer will lead creative initiatives, explore new ideas and approaches, and design engaging and memorable experiences for customers.
Position Overview The Graphic Designer will serve as the University of Idaho Auxiliary Services graphic designer.
Position duties will include:

  • Creating stunning visuals for print, traditional media, large scale print collateral such as posters, banners, flyers, brochures, etc.
  • Using 4-color press, print proofs, Pantone color matching and resolution settings.
  • Using design principles such as typography, visual storytelling, color palettes, interactivity and web-design principles and photography/photo editing.
  • Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Managing simultaneous projects.
  • Following creative briefs and timelines.
  • Incorporating feedback and revisions.
  • Meeting technical specifications
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Required Experience Three years of work experience in the design field to include:

  • Designing for print, web, and digital.
  • Use of graphic design software.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, advertising design; four additional years (seven total) experience in the design field may substitute a degree.
Required Other
  • Work a nonstandard schedule as needed, which may include nights or weekends.
Additional Preferred Experience with:

  • Motion graphics and HTML5.
  • A variety of mediums/disciplines.
  • Working in a higher education setting.

Ability to:

  • Be a positive, enthusiastic and solution-oriented attitude to all challenges.
  • Edit basic video capabilities by creating a short gameplay montage.
  • Be a self-starter who can come up with original ideas and see them through to completion.
  • Learn After Effects, Premier and other creative/motion programs.
  • Track changes in social media best practices to adapt designs to the most effective formats in a rapidly changing landscape.

  • 3 years of applicable professional experience in an agency setting.
