South Derbyshire District Council
tendersglobal.net

South Derbyshire is a thriving and successful place at the heart of the National Forest, with a
healthy visitor economy alongside an expanding business sector. With high-value jobs and
outstanding transport links, you can understand why we’re one of the fastest growing Districts
in the country and this is reflected in our vision to be ‘a great place to live, visit and
invest’.
An opportunity has arisen within the Parks and Green Space section for a Biodiversity and Green
Space Officer to support the Council’s commitment to the Climate Emergency and the importance
of the environment within the Council’s Corporate Plan.
The role will see you make a direct impact on quality of life in South Derbyshire and requires
you to provide expertise in biodiversity, ecology, green spaces, habitat and species surveys
and develop site management plans for sites across the district. A key part of your role will
be to work closely with the Planning Service and other services across the Council and provide
advice, recommendations and approvals for development schemes, landscape plans, SuDS, nature
sites and green spaces.
We are looking for someone who is determined to achieve the very best for the communities in
which they work and who will step up to take the initiative and the accountability for making
things happen.
It is a role that requires great technical knowledge, attention to detail, partnership working
skills, good communication, an ability to think strategically, manage a demanding workload and
display a commitment to high standards, engendering change and meeting deadlines.
The job is a full time fixed-term appointment for two years.
Once you have read the job description and person specification on our website, should you wish to discuss
this role informally, please contact Chris Worman, Parks and Green Spaces Manager on [email protected]
