The Role:

The Hampshire Forest Partnership is growing and we’re looking for
Project Officers to join us on our journey to tackle the climate
emergency
and support green infrastructure development. You will be
involved in everything from identifying woodland creation opportunities to planning and
delivering tree and hedgerow planting, as we work to deliver Hampshire County Council’s aim to
facilitate the planting of one million new trees across Hampshire by 2050.

The Hampshire Forest Partnership is the delivery mechanism for Hampshire’s Tree Strategy. The
aim of the Hampshire Forest Partnership is to improve the quality of life for people through
interaction with trees and woodlands. This project is all about the partnership between people
and trees. We want to provide opportunities for nature recovery, provide essential ecosystem
services and help meet our objectives to reach carbon net zero by 2050. We want to teach new
innovative planting techniques, develop methods to record tree planting and provide
opportunities for public engagement.

There is so much going on right now – it’s a fantastic time to join the team!

Your role will be to assist in the co-ordination and implementation of the Hampshire Tree
Strategy action plan and tree planting programme through the Hampshire Forest Partnership
delivery mechanism. The Hampshire Forest Partnership is a collaboration between Hampshire
County Council and key stakeholders representing a wide variety of organisations, community
groups, schools, landowners, farmers and residents of Hampshire, all with an interest in trees.
You will develop and implement projects for the county, including working with partners and
private landowners and service stakeholders to promote tree planting and the Hampshire Forest
Partnership. We are therefore looking for individuals with experience of working in the
environment sector that possess a good understanding of the benefits that trees and woodlands
provide, knowledge of habitats, the ability to interpret maps for site assessments and report
production and excellent engagement and communication skills.
