Job Summary Student employee will work alongside full time Auburn University employees in tier 1 and tier 2 support and will be responsible for general tasks associated with tier 1 IT support. Comprehensive technological knowledge is not expected, but entry-level support skills and a desire to learn and increase knowledge will be encouraged. Ideally, this student employee should have some interest in a career in IT and could benefit from hands-on experience.
Essential Functions
  • PC Hardware support (desktops and laptops)
  • Peripheral support (printers, scanners, etc.)
  • Desktop software troubleshooting and resolution (Microsoft products, Acrobat, browser support, etc.)
  • Initial software setup and physical deployment of new hardware purchases to employees
  • Installing new printers, scanners, as requested
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled student at Auburn University
  • Ability to carry, move, lift, and install computers, monitors, and printers, etc.
  • Entry-level support skills
Preferred Qualifications Competency troubleshooting most of the following:

  • Windows operating systems
  • Microsoft Office
  • Browser related issues (IE 11, Google Chrome, Adobe Flash and Oracle Java plug-ins)
  • Scanners, printers, and other hardware peripherals
  • Anti-virus and malware scans and remediation

Any familiarity or previous work with the following would be advantageous:

  • Joining computers to Microsoft Active Directory domains
  • Imaging computers using Microsoft or other third-party tools
  • Running Java applets, configuring the Java control panel
  • Writing scripts with batch, vbscript, or PowerShell
Pay Rate $11.00/hour
