Position Summary:
Under the systems of the CIRMMT systems/technical manager, performs technical tasks related to the maintenance, administration and upgrade of the CIRMMT network and server infrastructure. Installs, configures, tests and upgrades hardware and software. Acts as resource person and resolves problems. Instructs others and provides technical guidance. Performs adjustments and minor repairs. 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and administer the Centre’s servers and computer network. Carry out installations of updated network systems as necessary.

  • Install security updates and monitor network usage. Assesses necessity for further updates.

  • Manages backups of systems.

  • Performs testing of systems and upgrades hardware and software as necessary for both the Centre’s network and for Centre’s staff.

  • Immediate contact for staff as resource person, resolving issues as and when they arise, as well as providing technical assistance to staff.

  • Provides support and assistance for network resources and will carry out basic repairs on equipment and/or the network.

  • Proposes functional solutions to Systems/Technical Manager and then develops scripts and applications according to problems that arise in the Centre.

  • Aids in purchasing equipment and materials for network and the Centre’s staff.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation needed to pass on information in future

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Unix server administration

  • Proficient in python. C & other lang are a plus.

  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP & audio/video networking stacks

  • Reverse engineering of network/control protocols

  • Embedded system development (raspberry pi, microcontrollers), interfacing with external systems.

Minimum Education and Experience:

DEC III – Computer Science Technology 2 Years Related Experience /

Hourly Salary:

(MUNACA Level G) $31.19 – $38.65
