Description

Out of Africa Wildlife Park is seeking a full-time animal keeper to care for a diverse collection of ungulates. Experience working around large hoofstock is preferred, but not required. Animals include giraffe, southern white rhino, dromedary camel, plains zebra, ostrich, Asian water buffalo, Watusi cattle, fallow deer, Nubian ibex, aoudad, and several species of antelope. Schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, animal husbandry, diet preparation, habitat maintenance, enrichment, daily upkeep of animal logs, and assistance with veterinary procedures as needed. Experience with operant conditioning is a bonus, with an emphasis on voluntary hoof trims. Approved applicant will also be responsible for conducting educational and entertaining tours among the animals in our natural Serengeti habitat.

Qualifications

Degree in biology, zoology, wildlife management, animal science, or related field is preferred. Applicants must have good observation and communication skills, work harmoniously with fellow staff and supervisors, and be able to work independently. An outgoing, positive personality is essential as the selected applicant will be expected to provide excellent customer service. Background in large animal husbandry and public speaking preferred.
