£43,414 to £51,805 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
Fixed-term, Full-time (part-time hours will be considered)

We are now looking to appoint a Lecturer in Academic Skills Development.

This role will require  teaching and support of students across our existing programmes, and generally enhancing our research-led teaching.

You will work collaboratively with academic staff across all Divisions to deliver high quality numeracy, oracy, literacy, academic and digital skills, to support and facilitate development of students in Nursing and other health and social care programmes.

We are currently looking to promote and support students’ learning and development of academic skills with students across our disciplines, including Nursing, Social Work, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Oral Health Science, Psychological Wellbeing Practice, and Clinical Psychology.

Your main responsibilities will include facilitating the learning and development of students in the School through a flexible and planned programme of individual, group and whole class workshops and coaching consistent with high quality learning and development, focusing on academic, clinical and professional writing, numeracy, oracy, literacy, academic and digital skills. You will build effective working relationships with other staff and teams in the School and engage with students to deliver an effective and engaging programme of support to help develop academic learning skills.

About you
You will have relevant professional experience or practiceor relevant doctoral level degree or be close to completion and will have fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate.

It is essential that candidates experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to engage in teaching and learning support and a clear understanding of how students learn both generally and within their subject/disciplinary area(s), along with experience of teaching subject-specific academic or Numeracy skills
