Library Technician, Media Services
Howard-Tilton Memorial Library
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Library Technician, Media Services serves as the primary coordinator for media reserves in Media Services; facilitates positive patron interactions at the Media Services desk, including circulation, basic research assistance, and use of in-house technologies; supports and grows the creative technology lending collection, improving effectiveness of the program; and assists with collection management tasks with limited supervision.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Attention to detail
• Ability to solve problems effectively and sometimes under pressure
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently 
• Ability to interact and communicate openly, positively and effectively with faculty, students, librarians, staff, and vendors.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to function fully and competently at technology competency Levels I and II outlined in HTML Core Technology Competencies for Employees. See (https://library.tulane.edu/sites/default/files/core_technology_competencies.pdf)
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree 
OR 
• High School Diploma and 6 years related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn various software and programs (including but not limited to Adobe Suite products, others)
• Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn one or more creative technologies (ex., basic audio or video recording, basic digital art, basic GIS mapping devices, etc.)
• Basic understanding of audio-visual playback equipment and software
