Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Greet and prepare patients for examination, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient assessments, measurements, and procedures.
  • Record and maintain accurate patient information, including medical histories and vital signs.
  • Administer medications and injections under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

Clinical Support:

  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and wound care.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for analysis.

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records electronically.
  • Manage phone calls and inquiries, providing information and directing calls to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Patient Education:
  • Provide patients with information and education on their medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Ensure that patients understand and adhere to prescribed treatments and medications.

Department Description

UCSF’s Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
