Hyndburn is an attractive area in the heart of Pennine Lancashire, within easy reach of
Manchester, the lakes and the Coast. The Borough has a rich resource of natural spaces with
public access including three Local Nature Reserves, other nature reserves and designated
biodiversity sites, and some 200 ha of woodlands in public ownership. The Council has also
recently purchased new landholdings to add to this resource.
The Natural Spaces Project Officer will be responsible for the positive management and
enhancement of nature reserves, woodlands and other biodiversity sites owned by the Council.
The role will also contribute to new project development and master planning, grant funding
bids and other external investment opportunities.
Making the links between natural environment action and climate action is key to this role. As
is the ability to work effectively and creatively in collaboration with other organisations,
community groups and individuals.
Options for full-time, part-time or job share will be considered and candidates are requested
to give information on their preferences. Initially, the position will be a fixed term contract
for three years, with any continuation subject to further agreement.
