AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of the German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (ZFD), we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The ZFD is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in El Salvador, AGIAMONDO aims to contribute to civil conflict transformation there and to the sustainable just development of the country through peacebuilding measures.

Your new field of activity

In accordance with the episcopal mandate, Caritas wants to advance memory work in the department of San Vicente and anchor it in the communities. The region was affected by violence and displacement for many years during the internal armed conflict. Groups of survivors have organized to demand justice and reparations.

In the Department of San Vicente, there are various initiatives at the community level that strive for living memory work. The Catholic Church is very committed to supporting them. Through your support, you will help to expand and professionalize memory work and consolidate existing approaches.

Specifically, you will take on the following tasks:

  • You will support Caritas in recording existing initiatives of remembrance work at the parish level and in networking all groups involved.
  • You will promote the conceptual development of existing approaches to remembrance work and incorporate your own ideas.
  • For different target groups such as young people, community representatives, multipliers, etc., you will design educational programs in the subject area and implement them in practice.
  • You will support survivors in their processing and in their struggle for justice, reparations, and the protection of basic human rights.
  • You will ensure the proper spending and management of funds on the ground in accordance with donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO requirements. In doing so, you will work in partnership with Caritas.

Your profile

  • You have a university degree in education, social science, ethnology or a comparable humanities/social science.
  • You have experience in memory work (e.g. political education in the field of memory culture) with young people and/or adults.
  • You have knowledge in human rights-based work and/ or accompanying victims of human rights violations, refugees and other marginalized groups.
  • Practical experience in artistic or movement-oriented fields (e.g. theater work, music, dance) is desirable.
  • You communicate fluently in written and oral Spanish, have a car driver’s license and regular driving experience.
  • You are a citizen of the EU or Switzerland and as a member of a Christian church you identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.


  • Individual and comprehensive preparation
  • Three-year contract, social security and remuneration according to the German Development Aid Act (DAG)
  • Further training in the country, language or other specialist areas, as well as coaching and supervision, individual counselling.
