Position Description:    
The Physics Department of Ariel University, Israel, invites applications for a two year postdoctoral research position. Upon mutual agreement, the position can be extended for a third year. The starting date is in 2022/2023 academic year and is negotiable.

The position is within the research group of Dr. Lev Tal-Or, who is seeking a qualified candidate in observational exoplanet science. Lev’s primary research interests are:
– Planet detection by means of Doppler spectroscopy.
– Mitigating stellar activity for exoplanet detection.
– Transiting-planet detection and characterization.

Postdoctoral candidates should hold a PhD in physics, astrophysics, planetary sciences, computer science, or equivalent. The research work consists of numerical data analysis and astronomical observations. Preference will be given to excellent researchers, with experience in radial velocity detection of planets around active stars. Postdoctoral fellows in the group also assist MSc and PhD student training, so candidates with basic leadership skills will be given preference.

A successful candidate will benefit from access to a high-performance computational facility, travel funds, and strong ties with the CARMENES consortium. The monthly fellowship is expected to be 9,000 NIS/month. A fellow who supports family members will receive an additional 1,000 NIS/month.
