Position: Professional Development Nurse Educator

Schedule: Full Time and Part Time available. Multiple openings in the Medical Surgical and Emergency Department settings

Location: Multiple locations available, including: Lynchburg and Bedford

****We have openings in the following settings at Lynchburg General Hospital: Medical Surgical and Emergency Department. Previous nursing experience in any of these settings is preferred.

****We also have a Part Time generalist role at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Job Description:

The Professional Development Nurse Educator uses tools, theories, skills and knowledge of Professional Development to improve the practice of the healthcare team. This role is responsible for promoting lifelong learning of the healthcare team through orientation/onboarding, competency management, education, professional role development, research/EBP/QI, and collaborative partnerships.

Requirements:

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, or equivalent healthcare related bachelor’s degree; Willing to enroll in master’s program within 3 years

· Requires at least two years’ experience in healthcare and knowledge of adult learning principles

· Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Prefer candidates to have previous education/teaching experience

· Must be certified in Healthcare Continuing Professional Development (CHCP)/Board Certified in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or willing to obtain within 1 year of eligibility

· Must be licensed as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a compact state licensure
