Reporting to the Vice President for Global Programs, the Director will work closely with the Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost for Global Programs and colleagues from the Office of the Provost and the Office of Global Programs (OGP) to develop and lead NYUâ™s on-the-ground presence in Tulsa, Oklahoma, contingent on state authorization to operate there. Duties will include developing and overseeing the overall day-to-day operation of NYUâ™s activities in Tulsa, including academic, student-services, and financial and operational aspects. The Director will also be the day-to-day interlocutor with partners at the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF).To achieve these purposes, the Director will partner with NYUâ™s schools and departments and key faculty from NYUâ™s degree-granting campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai to offer and support high-quality and experientially-focused academic programs in Tulsa such as semester-length âœstudy awayâ programs, short-term intensive courses, experiential learning, and research opportunities.The Director will cultivate, develop, and supervise local faculty members; oversee health, safety, and crisis response requirements in collaboration with University offices; establish and maintain strong local community relationships in a number of domains (e.g., education, innovation and entrepreneurship, civic engagement, workforce development, Indigenous communities, arts); and lead a small local staff to support NYU students and faculty participating in educational programs, conducting research or entrepreneurial activities, and/or convening local events. Other areas of emphasis may be developed and added as needs and interests emerge.
It is anticipated that this position will remain appropriately academically active throughout their appointment in this role. This can include teaching a maximum of 2 classes annually. This is a full-time position located in Tulsa. Given the nature of this important leadership role, it is anticipated that the Director will be available in person but on limited occasion may work remotely as agreed in advance with the Vice President for Global Programs.
NYU is preparing an application for state authorization to operate in Oklahoma. A number of planned activities are contingent upon approval of that application.

Doctoral Degree Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA)
Required Experience:
10+ years Preferably to an American higher education institution. Candidate must have strong administrative and managerial skills, as well as experience and expertise in leading people and programs in education, innovation and entrepreneurship, and/or civic engagement. We strongly prefer a candidate with: – Local Tulsa/Oklahoma experience, knowledge, and connections; – Relevant academic and/or research background; – Understanding of and commitment to immersive and experientially-focused learning; – Experience in community and industry engagement; – Experience managing an educational program at the university level; – Excellent record of working with faculty and researchers, teaching, and advising students. This is a full-time executive position requiring full-time residency in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Higher Education Administration: Understanding of academic program development, administration, and curriculum planning within a university setting. Global Education: Knowledge of international and cross-cultural education, including collaboration across multiple academic units. Community Engagement: Understanding of building and nurturing relationships with local communities, including knowledge of education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. Local Context: Knowledge of Tulsa and the broader region and knowledge of running education programs within the state of Oklahoma. Program Development: Have prior experience in the development and implementation of new programs including having worked in a grant or external funded environment Leadership: Strong leadership skills to lead a local staff and coordinate efforts with various university offices and external partners. Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with academic units, faculty, and external partners to develop and support academic programs. Relationship Building: Skill in establishing and cultivating relationships with local community organizations and leaders. Program Development: Capable of developing high quality, experientially focused academic programs. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and adapt to evolving needs and interests in Tulsa and at NYU. Adaptability: Flexibility to handle various aspects of the role, including educational program management, community engagement, and event coordination. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions with stakeholders, both internal and external. Problem-solving: Ability to address challenges related to education, community engagement, and program development. Project Management: Skill in managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $160,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
