The University of California Education Abroad Program is a UC, systemwide, academic program. Through international academic experiences, the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) inspires students to explore and transform their lives, UC, and the world. Since 1962, UCEAP has served as the UC systemwide study abroad program. In support of this mission, it has served over 100,000 students across all ten UC campuses and over 50,000 Reciprocity (international) students.Reporting to the UCEAP Associate Program Director (APD) in California, the Program Manager provides local leadership and oversight of UCEAP study center administration and academic programs in London. In consultation with appropriate administrative units at UCEAP Systemwide Office, ensures compliance with local operations for a small office (e.g., HR, finance, etc.). Acts as the lead contact for students and participates in an after-hours/weekend emergency support rotation during program terms, serving as the lead for escalated emergency issues. Serves as the local UCEAP representative and liaison with the host universities, the U.S. Embassy, other study abroad programs, student support services (such as housing, excursion, training and other providers), and local organizations. Promotes and maintains strong relationships with the host institutions, faculty, and staff, serving as both a facilitator and problem solver. Provides leadership for communications with partner institutions, UCEAP Systemwide Office, local government and association organizations and student participants on program administration, policies and procedures, requirements and student welfare-related issues.Summary of Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
• Ideally a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in higher education program administration and student services, with demonstrated expertise supporting students in cross-cultural or international settings and 2 years of project management or team leadership experience.
• Advanced professional English verbal and written communication skills, typically equivalent to CERF level C1 or higher. Skill in obtaining and conveying information clearly and with accuracy.
• Advanced interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage with students and employ counseling techniques with sensitivity including appropriate referrals.
• Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities to manage a broad range of operational, academic, and student welfare and conduct issues.
• Ability to diffuse and resolve conflicts effectively, while remaining calm and professional.
• High level of service orientation and ability to empathize with student concerns while treating them with patience and respect.
• Highly responsive communicator with ability to manage communications effectively within a remote working environment.
• Experience responding to safety, security, and health issues, as they affect students abroad, and working knowledge of emergency planning best practices.
• Knowledge of the structure and organization of US and British higher education systems.
• Ability to provide independent leadership, take initiative, prioritize and adjust to varying workloads, manage and/or delegate tasks across the Study Center team, and meet various deadlines with changing priorities, interruptions and conflicting deadlines.

Desirable:

• Higher education administration experience.
• First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks or other related financial software.

Special Conditions

• Must be legally authorized to work in the UK without sponsorship.
• Satisfactory completion of a background check including a criminal check where permissible.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and abroad on an occasional basis.
• Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to respond to student emergencies.

Questions?Anticipated Start Date: 8th September£45,000 to £53,000. Inclusive of LWA and on-call pay
