About us:
For nearly 60 years, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has worked with its members, partners, and
supporters in pursuit of its vision of healthy, resilient ecosystems across Scotland’s land and
seas. The Trust successfully champions the cause of wildlife through policy and campaigning
work, demonstrates best practice through practical conservation and innovative partnerships and
inspires people to take positive action through its education and engagement activities.
The Role:
The Riverwoods Initiative is an innovative partnership with a broad membership focused on
ecosystem recovery. The initiative is an ambitious concept, which aims to develop a holistic
and targeted programme of activity to harness the multiple benefits of riparian woodland for
biodiversity and people across Scotland. Success will bring transformational change to our
landscapes and unlock innovative new methods of funding conservation projects. It will help
prepare our rivers, and the communities and ecosystems that rely on them, for the twin
challenges of climate change and biodiversity crisis. By engaging with communities and other
key audiences across Scotland, we will champion the benefits of riparian woodland and
facilitate the expansion and recovery of this important habitat.
The Riverwoods Project Officer will be a key member in the Riverwoods team, with the primary
purpose of working with land managers and partners to support the practical delivery of
riparian woodland creation during the development phase of a National Lottery funded project.
The post will also be responsible for identifying priority areas for the delivery phase of the
project, as well as designing a small grants scheme to support a riparian woodland creation
scheme.
The postholders will be embedded within either Fisheries Management Scotland (or one of its
member organisations) or the Tweed Forum.
Please see the job description and application information available on our website.

activities with a wide range of stakeholders are also key skills for this post.
