First Peoples Disability Network (FPDN) Australia is a national organisation of and for Australia’s First Peoples living with a disability, their families and communities. FPDN’s purpose is to promote respect for human rights, secure social justice, and empower First Peoples with disability to participate in Australian society on an equal basis with others. We are the traditional custodians of the Land changing the narratives of First Peoples living with a disability, their families and communities and we recognise this important responsibility.
THE ROLE
We are looking to employ three Project Officers for the NSW Disability Sector Strengthening project. The primary role of the Sector Strengthening Plan Project Officer will be to contribute to the implementation of actions identified within the recently developed Sector Strengthening Plan and coordinate across the sector in its delivery.
We are looking for applicants who have demonstrated experience in:
- Disability advocacy and community engagement with Engaging with First Nations communities
- Commitment and capacity to promote the rights, interests and aspirations of First Nations people
- An understanding of community-controlled organisations
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with Aboriginal peoples and communities and to collaborate to achieve their objectives
- Well-developed administration skills including the development of resources, forms and templates
- Effective project management skills with well-developed time management skills to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
- Hold a class C drivers license and the ability to travel within NSW.
This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. Exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Employment will be subject to a National Police Clearance and a NSW Working With Children Check
This is a fixed term position until June 30 2024.
