Job Summary This position works independently to assist Principal Investigators in their Department/College by performing administrative and technical functions associated with grants, contracts, and other agreements from external funding sources. The grants administrator also serves as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Office of the Vice President and Research, and other campus entities as necessary.
This position is evenly-split with effort for both pre-award and post-award activities.
Responsibilities Provides expertise and guidance regarding the submission of grant and contract proposals to Department of Psychiatry principal investigators (P.I.), departmental administrators and other support staff; determines the proposals adherence to funding agency and University of Utah policies, guidelines and procedures. Processes awards for successfully funded grants and contracts. 
Proficient with the full range of proposals submitted by the Department of Psychiatry. Proficient with the full range of award administration activities, including award set-up, modification, and maintenance.
Subject Matter Expert in a variety of GCO activities, including but not limited to general feedback on industry contract review, content contribution, etc. Assists Department of Psychiatry’s faculty in the design, preparation and budget computations for grant and subcontract applications; and in the completion of research proposals being submitted to funding agencies. Approves and initiates account budgets for all awards received from funding agencies for sponsored projects and monitors these accounts via agency (including expanded authorities), and University guidelines to ensure funds received are expended according to established federal, state and University regulations. 
Ensures federal compliance by reviewing procedures/policies. Provides recommendations for updates in procedures/policies.
Makes substantive contributions to trainings, process development, and unit resources
Consistently works on highly complex problems requiring independent action and decision-making. Must determine best course of action to resolve problems and frequently makes recommendations for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree + four years of related experience or 12 years of related experience.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
