Job Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care for patients as they navigate new diagnoses
- Serves as primary liaison for patients, families, and referring physicians
- Prioritizes patient visits according to needs and urgency, per protocols
- Provides general disease information and education to patients as directed by the physician
- Relay scan, pathology, and lab results as directed by the doctor
- Follow up on outside referrals and schedule treatment and office visits accordingly
- Serve as primary support for the physicians
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration among health care team members in order to provide patients with top quality care
- Schedule patients for lab work and other services where necessary
- Return telephone calls from patients regarding treatment
Qualifications
- Experience as a registered nurse in a hospital or outpatient setting
- Relevant work experience in oncology and OCN certificate is preferred but not required
- Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
- Must be a team player and willing to take on responsibility for tasks ancillary to nursing activities
