The Research Associate 1 will participate in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating cancer in the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Participate in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies

·        Design and execute complex laboratory experiments

·        Perform advanced molecular and cellular techniques

·        Collect, analyze and interpret research data

·        Assist with the development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques

·        Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization

·        Assist in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards

·        Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken

·        Assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents

·        Assist Principal Investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research

·        Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff

·        Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment

·        Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education Required: 

·        Master’s degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Required Qualifications:

·        Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required

·        Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred

·        Requires successful completion of a background check

·        The candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen

The Target Hiring Range: $17.50 – $26.06

By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.

Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions.
