The department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science is looking for a Research Associate to serve as a member of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Research -Dravid Lab. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The Research Associate will investigate the role of glutamate receptor signaling in the brain. Uses mouse models, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology techniques (such as western blotting and cloning, electrophysiology, and mouse behavioral techniques) to answer questions in neuroscience and pharmacology.

What you need to know

Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

  • Two years of professional experience in research or research-related activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data, and perform other computer related tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various techniques, particularly surgical procedures, behavior, and immunohistochemistry, is preferable.

  • Graduate school degree MS with some topic-specific experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination: Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine research. Keeps detailed records of data.

  • Data Analysis: Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

  • Publications/Supervision: Summarizes results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications. Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies. Maintains financial accounts related to research projects. Other duties as assigned.
