Job Description:

The RN Nurse Manager, Adult Psychiatry/Behavioral Health maintains 24-hour accountability for the Unit. In this role, the Mental Health Unit Manager plans, organizes, schedules, monitors, and leads the work of individuals and groups to attain desired results. This position selects and develops staff to promote a healthy work environment. The Unit Manager facilitates Centra’s strategic plan, maintains quality and safe patient care, promotes a service-oriented environment, and functions within budgetary guidelines. The Unit Manager integrates the tenets of the Professional Practice Model in the operations of the Unit.

The Unit Manager’s practice reflects the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators, and the Nurse Practice Act of Virginia.

Other Details Include:

· Unit: 25 bed Adult Psychiatric unit (ages 18-55)

· Manage 60-70 FTE’s

· There are 2 Clinical Quality Coordinators for support (one on Day shift and one on Night shift)

· Providers are: 1 Director of Psychiatry, 2 Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and a robust therapy team

Requirements:

· Bachelors or Masters in nursing. If Masters is in nursing, Bachelors may be in any field

· One year experience in nursing or related healthcare field

· Must hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse
