The Library team under the Content Management group is responsible for the management of external information subscriptions, including the selection, evaluation and procurement of databases, data feeds, digital journals, books, and newspapers. In addition, the Library team maintains the Library’s catalog, promotes the collection, and delivers or arranges delivery of training on key subscriptions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of and experience in corporate library and information management practices and a strong background in collection development of financial, news and industry subscription. The Senior Librarian will lead the execution of defined projects as part of the Library’s strategy development to facilitate the evolution of information subscription management at EDC. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for developing and auditing the framework for the governance of subscription advisory services including analyzing the external information requirements of teams, projects, and business lines, with the goal of recommending subscriptions that satisfy both business and any transaction requirements, while adhering to budget limitations.


Work closely with information contacts, including negotiations, developing and maintaining supplier relationships, and understanding the competitive information landscape
Track statistics and usage for budget planning as part of data metrics
Maintain and extensively use Integrated Library System (ILS) and other library technologies and software
Collaborate with leader and team Advisors on the implementation of strategic plans and defined subscription Governance objectives, including the integration of policies within business units and the technology required to support the teams and the organization
Manage the operational documentation/processes and provides relevant updates to management on issues relating to operational risk
Lead enterprise training initiatives for Library subscriptions, maintain the library catalogue, as well as user and vendor lists
Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of Library policies, procedures, programs and/or products, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions
Provide strategic and expert advice and customer-focused solutions by developing an in-depth understanding of specific internal customer groups
Manage working relationships with key internal partners (such as Accounts Payable, Legal and Procurement) in order to achieve Library objectives
Develop policies and processes, create best practices, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture, and share knowledge on project/program outcomes and innovative practices
Ensure that EDC business and support programs have access to essential external information and business intelligence through the provision of external databases and data feed subscriptions

Screening Criteria

Graduate degree in Library Science or Information Management from an ALA-accredited institution
Minimum 7 years of experience in a client advisory role in library subscription management, preferably in a corporate or special library
Experience with information contacts including negotiations, developing and maintaining supplier relationships, understanding the competitive information landscape
Experience and ability to work with ILS (Integrated Library System) and other library technologies
Knowledge of SharePoint Online
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including strong presentation skills
Knowledge of external information sources and services, including financial/market data, companies, news, industries, economics, country and political risk, risk management, and legal sources

Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
Knowledge of issues surrounding digital licensing agreements and cost negotiation
Salary Range

Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $90,544 – $120,725, plus performance-based incentive
