All About You

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction and in collaboration with other digital content and communication producers, the Social Media Strategist plans, assesses, and produces engaging and accessible written and visual posts for Saint Louis University’s official social media accounts and slu.edu; reports on key growth and metrics, monitors social media sentiment around the SLU brand; assists in crisis monitoring and response; provides front-line customer service representing SLU on social media channels; assists in the planning and creation of paid digital marketing assets for social media channels; upholds SLU’s social media guidelines; trains and serves as a consultant to distributed social media managers running other accounts representing the SLU brand, and oversees a team of student content producers/influencers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Produces and monitors written and visual digital content (earned, owned, paid) for Saint Louis University’s official social media accounts.

  • Monitors the performance of SLU’s social media accounts through analytics and other bench-marking data.

  • Assists University stakeholders, schools, and departments in their social media presence and in upholding SLU’s social media guidelines.

  • Assists in crisis response and monitoring; gauges and reports on sentiment on social media channels; represents SLU in official social media responses/customer service.

  • Works with student influencers and other authentic content contributors to cultivate content for SLU’s earned, owned and paid social media presence.

  • Work with team members to market and communicate about SLU across platforms, including slu.edu. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong content planning and strategy skills.

  • Expert knowledge of existing and emerging social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, TikTok YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat) and monitoring/scheduling services (Hootsuite, Sprout, Loomly).

  • Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Basic photography and videography skills.

  • Basic graphic design skills/knowledge of Adobe Suite/Canva.

  • Ability to work within a content management system.

  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Strong ability to recognize trends in social media communications and marketing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with two (2) years of related experience.
