Student Navigator (Macdonald Campus) Tuesdays and Thursdays (6h/week).

Hourly rate: $15.23

Hiring Unit: User Services – Macdonald Campus Library
Position Summary:

Under the direction of a library staff member, the student navigator:

  • Lends materials of various formats;

  • Photocopying, scanning and transmitting documents;

  • Answers simple inquiries and directional questions;

  • Provides assistance in navigating the Library and McGill websites as well as providing basic support in the use of technology located in the branch library (computers, scanners, printers, etc.)

  • Contributes to the inventory, processing, shelving, shifting, and organizing of library materials;

  • Ensures appropriate guidelines are followed in relation to the use of the facilities;

  • Performs other supplementary tasks as assigned.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Must be client-focused and service-oriented. Demonstrated ability to cope with physical requirements: handling, carrying and lifting of library materials. Previous library or similar experience preferred. English: spoken, read, written and French is an asset. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
