Two ERC-funded post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Prof. Benoit Vanhollebeke at the University of Brussels, Belgium.

Laboratory and opportunities

Two post-doctoral positions are currently available in the laboratory of Prof. Benoit Vanhollebeke at the University of Brussels, Belgium.

The laboratory combines imaging and genetic approaches in zebrafish and mouse embryos to unravel neurovascular communications in real-time and at the single cell resolution, with a particular emphasis on the cell signaling cascades that govern brain angiogenesis, blood-brain barrier formation, and maintenance. Please follow this link to discover more about the lab (http://nvasc.ulb.be/vanhollebekelab/), and go through the following publications for representative research projects (Martin et al. Science 2022, America et al. Cell Reports 2022, Eubelen et al. Science 2018).

The laboratory is part of the ULB Neuroscience Institute, a multi-disciplinary research institute of over 20 research teams, with research interests ranging from molecular and cellular neurobiology to cognitive and clinical neurosciences. The lab is currently composed of 2 post-docs, 6 Ph.D. students, and 3 research assistants. We value performing our science in an open and collaborative spirit and pay particular attention to the professional and personal growth of all our lab members.

The post-doctoral fellows will engage in an ERC-funded research project to explore the genetic regulation of blood-brain barrier function in zebrafish and mice, by using state-of-the-art genetic and imaging technologies (https://www.ulb.be/en/erc-projects/erc-research-project-ctrl-bbb-benoit-vanhollebeke).

Profiles

We are seeking highly motivated post-docs with published evidence of high-quality research in disciplines related to developmental biology, vascular biology, neurosciences, or signal transduction. Candidates with previous post-doctoral training in zebrafish or mouse genetics are strongly encouraged to apply. Command of written and spoken English is essential.

How to apply?

Interested applicants should email their cover letter and CV (including the names of three potential referees) to the attention of Benoit Vanhollebeke ([email protected]). The positions are available immediately. Application deadline: November 10, 2022, early applications are encouraged.
