Veteran’s Housing Program Manager – Men’s Homeless Shelter

Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) is a Christian ministry serving those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction in our community. UGMTC’s Veteran Housing Program partners with Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) to provide a safe, clean, and structured place for men to live either permanently or temporarily while they make steps towards stability in life and faith in God.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP of Programs, this role leads the Veterans Permanent Housing Program in collaboration with other UGMTC staff and Veterans organizations and oversees case management for Vets at the Bethel Hotel located on UGMTC’s Men’s campus in St. Paul, MN. Important responsibilities include: conducting house meetings, facilitating groups, documenting resident progress, and working with a team of professionals dedicated to holistic care restoring dignity and wholeness to these Vets. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages, plans, designs, and implements all components of the Veterans housing program in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, vision, values, and policies while partnering with Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), and other Veteran’s programs

· Establishes a welcoming and safe environment for our resident Vets including leading group outings, retreats, and social events

· De-escalates and resolves any issues/conflicts that occur

· Uses best-practice case management methodologies to evaluate resident member progress and ensure confidentiality and other mandated regulations are observed

· Serves as a liaison connecting men to other UGMTC services, programs, and resources to support achievement of program objectives

· Develops partnerships with government, community, and veteran’s associations to promote UGM’s program and help homeless vets move toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency

· Evaluates program effectiveness and seeks continuous improvement.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field

· 2 years as case manager, program manager, or social worker in related field

· Experience as a drug and alcohol counselor or working knowledge of 12-step program preferred

· Experience working with people experiencing mental health issues, homelessness, poverty, or addiction

· Valid driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

· Work is performed in transitional housing environment with no unusual physical demands.

· Must be able to lift 50 more than pounds on occasion.

· May, on occasion, be exposed to residents and guests who may struggle with regulating emotions.

Pay: Up to $47,166.00 per year
