Main Purpose of Job:

This is a multifaceted entry-level role for an exceptional individual to join Department for International Trade (DIT) China and Hong Kong region as a Business Operations Officer.

Reporting to the Senior HR and Operations Manager in Hong Kong, and being a part of the wider China-Hong Kong Operations team, the successful applicant will play a key role in providing support across multiple Operations functions such as Budget and Performance, People, Learning and Development and more. 

Very good organisational skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues across different locations, resilience to juggle with diverse and competing priorities, and growth mindset are key requirements for the role.

What will the Jobholder be Expected to Achieve:

Budget and Performance Data Management

  • Master several internal data management systems (HERA, Oracle Cloud, Data Workspace, Quick sight) to perform procurement duties, manage budgets and develop performance dashboards.
  • Share best practices and communicate latest procurement guidance with other officers to ensure excellent budget and procurement proficiencies across the team
  • Set up Excel spreadsheets to keep accurate budget records and develop robust monthly forecasts. Identify budgetary risks and propose mitigations for senior management’s decision-making.

People and Learning and Development Support

  • Provide support on a wide variety of HR and L&D duties, including org chart updates, job-spec development, training management, e-learning system maintenance, learning need analysis, and internal event management.
  • Work collaboratively with the L&D Committee in Hong Kong, and the L&D Manager in Shanghai to ensure alignment and consistency in our L&D offers.

Organisational Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the Operations team.
  • Cover other officers and undertake similar administrative work in other teams and sectors when required.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin
